The route of the Orient Expedition surprises us at each mile. Even when we revisit places we’ve been to before, the experience is unique, the people are different.
And even when there are no people, we are amazed by nature. That’s the case of Ducie and Mariana Islands!
We found out there are other inhabited islands in the world, check these three out:
Mu Ko Ang Thong (photo)
Located in the Gulf of Thailand, this 40-island archipelago is covered with tropical forest. The beaches have white sand and rocky formations. There are also coral gardens that make the place a very popular tourism destination. There’s only only inhabited island in the archipelago: Lo Paluay, where sea-gypsies still earn a living from fishing.
Coco Islands
These islands are jungle-covered. Besides being inhabited, the presence of tourists is only allowed with permission from the Costa Rican Park Rangers – the only people who are allowed to live on the island. Treasure hunting dives are very popular, since the area is known as having pirate presence in the 19th century. IT is said there is an Incan gold treasure taken by Benito Bonito in the area.
Mamanuca Islands
This group of 20 islands is located in fiji. Despite the existence of resorts on some of the islands because of the crystalline waters, most islands are inhabited, since there is no nature source of water in the region.
Even though these paradises are not inhabited, trash is always found, just as it was found on Ducie and Mariana Islands. Do your share as Solví does, and let us all help the planet be healthier.
