China has a vast territory and the world’s largest population. But not all of its area is inhabited – even though certais places were designed for this exact purpose.
And that is why the country has several ghost towns. And since the Chinese love copies, some of them were inspired in the world’s most famous and visited cities. Check out these three:
Little Paris or Tianducheng, near Shanghai
Built in 2007, the city was projected to house 100,000 people. The copy is perfect, with a 108 meter Eiffel Tower, European-like buildings and even the Versaille gardens. However, the city has only 200,000 inhabitants.
Little London or Thames Town, near Shanghai
The English capital was also chosen to be copied. In 2006, the city was built and gothic churches and the River Thames were included. But the charm and beauty cost so much it made it too difficult for people to afford living there.
Florentia Village, Wuqing, Tianjin
Originally, the copy of charming Florence was a corn plantation field. After several decades, it was transformed with cannals, Italian houses and even a Coliseum-shaped mall! The project cost 200 million dollars, but there aren’t even 1 million inhabitants living there.
