The Kat sailboat: the first surprise in Orient Expedition
03 de abril de 2013
In Orient Expedition, third circumnavigation of the globe by the Schurmanns, the family will travel for the first time on a boat especially built for their adventures.
Combining cutting-edge technology and respect for the environment, the Schurmann Family's new boat is one of the highlights of this journey. Temporarily called Schurmann 80 in the beginning of the project, the 80-feet-long sailboat with seven cabins, now in final stage of construction, had her name revealed during the official release of the Orient Expedition, last February.
After almost 30 years of adventures on board of Guapo and Aysso, the Schurmanns will now retrace the routes of the 15th century Chinese explorers in the Orient Expedition on a modern and sustainable sailboat, named Kat after Vilfredo and Heloisa Schurmann's daughter that died in 2006 and that, with this homage, will be symbolically present in another trip of the family.
